DON'T RUSH
Ignore the hype, there is plenty of good quality, affordable student accommodation available in Leeds. If you rush into getting a property too early you risk living with people you don't really know, and getting a bad deal on how much you have to pay. Unipol is a housing charity which promotes thousands of houses and bedspaces that meet the Unipol Code of Standards. To become a full member of the Unipol Code a landlord has to agree to a minimum set of standards. So when looking for a property check whether the landlord is a full Code member.
Unipol releases its list of over 10,000 bedspaces and properties on 16th January, so save yourself a lot of bother and don't start looking before then. Once you've found a property that you like, make sure that you get the tenancy agreement checked over before signing. Our advisers at the Leeds Met Student Union Advice Service can check over your contract for you, so that you don't end up signing up to something that you weren't expecting!
For more housing advice and info please check out the Student Advice Service section of The Leeds Met Student Union's website at http://www.leedsmet.co.uk or visit the Unipol Website at http://www.unipol.org.uk .
