Hello everyone,

I'm very into volunteering and charities and I was looking at UNICEF's website a few days ago and saw something called UNICEF On Campus. I'm just gonna explain it as briefly as I can.

It allows students to get involved with UNICEF’s work
by helping through fundraising in support of UNICEF’s international work and
their campaigns. Knowing that UNICEF raises money to help children all over the
world reach their full potential (education, childhood, healthy, be treated
fairly and heard). We will basically create social events to raise money for UNICEF, some examples of the social events (examples:a cake
sale; a band night; a talent contest;, dancing competition and cultural
evening; a fundraising film screening; dinner parties; a sponsored event;
fundraising at a uni event; packed lunch sales at the library; a talk or
debate; selling doughnuts; fancy dress night; club night; art/ photography
exhibition; quiz night, etc.. ) So it's lots of fun and for a good cause.

Many universities in the UK have UNICEF On Campus like Imperial College, Manchester and many more, they all have facebook groups so you can look them up if you want.

We can
either raise money for UNICEF’s general programs and they will distribute the money
to wherever it’s needed the most. Or we can plan events to fundraise for a
specific area such as: Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign or
Children’s Emergency Fund.And we can also help in cases of emergencies.

I think it's a great way to enrich our university life, meet people, have some fun and help!

So all I need right now is at least 11people to get the society started, so anyone who is interested and thinks that devoting some of our time to give children around the world a chance to a better life please email me :)

It's great that you are so passionate about helping raise money for a good cause. Did you know the Union had a RAG (Raise and Give) society until the student leader graduated at the end of last year? The union has been trying to find a motivated student to lead RAG this year and maybe you could be the person to do it. The RAG committee decides who to donate the funds raised so if you were involved you could suggest that UNICEF becomes a beneficiary of any funds raised by RAG. The RAG society is already constituted with a range of it's own publicity materials and resources (such as collection tins, buckets and cake storage boxes) and there are a lot of willing volunteers who signed up at freshers fair, they just need someone to lead them! Could it be you Sirine? Please call into the Student Development office and speak to Ash or Jen the staff members who will give you more information.
