Societies
What are societies?
Diverse, dynamic, student-led membership networks based on shared identity, belief, interest or purpose.
Leeds Met Su Societies facillitate and support approved membership groups (societies). Societies are a key part of the university experience, joining is a great way to meet people, try something new, get active, express yourself, broaden horizons and develop skills. Societies offer a purpose other than the academic side of University life and provide a welcoming peer group you can belong to.
In everything we do we will:
- facilitate inspiring oppotunties for students to develop useful skills for life and work.
- empower student leaders to organise events and activities that meet the demands of members.
- encourage student activism that contributes to a vibrant student union and university community
- recognise, reward and celebrate the contributions made by involved students.
- review and evaluate our events and activities to continously improve waht we do.
The societies are grouped under Active, Course Based, Faith and Culture, General Interest and Poltical and Campaigining. If you can't find one that sparks your interest why not set one up yourself? Just click the section on the left hand side of the page called get involved...starting your own society for further details.
You can sign up for societies throughout the year, just get in contact with the society leader of your chosen society on the left hand side of the page.
