Online fashion retailer Boohoo.com have become the latest in a list of online retailers to offer a student discount with an NUS Extra Card.

In recent years, the discount offering with an NUS Extra Card has significantly improved.

NUS extra give students something to smile about on Blue Monday

* Next Monday (16^th January) has been dubbed Blue Monday, as it is apparently going to be the most depressing day of 2012. To help inject a little cheer into this gloomy day NUS extra is selling 2,012 cards for just £1.

Blue Monday is calculated by a formula based on lack of money after the festivities, Christmas being just a distant memory, cold and short days, New Year resolutions already broken… we could go on!

Some of you will want to stay in Halls and some will want to find a good private house instead. But remember that there is more student accommodation of all types available, than there are students in Leeds, so our advice is: don’t rush in and regret!

This Tuesday the Big Equality debate is upon us, with controversial ideas being submitted on issues from equal marriage rights for same sex couples to disability rights and the government alleged spying on Muslim students. What everyone is wondering is what will pass and be implemented.

The Student Union have become aware that there are potentially a large number of students who have had their deposits unsecured by their Estate Agent/landlord in Leeds. We want to alert all students to check to see if their deposit is protected.

If you have been informed that your deposit has been withdrawn from a Protection Scheme, or you think it is not protected then contact Leeds Met SU Advice Service immediately.

Last night saw our 6th annual Union Awards ceremony take place at The Carirageworks Theatre on Millenium Square. Over 150 students and staff members were in attendance and there were 23 awards given out for outstanding contribution in areas including Education, Community Wellbeing, Equality and Diversity, CALM Voulnteering, and Socities.

The awards are our way of reconising all of the amzing student who make our great Students Union what it is. The night was a fantastic success and saw the following people leave with (at least!) one award...
