Leeds Met Students'
Union and the Leeds Police are looking for volunteers over Freshers Week to
patrol the Otley Road and offer help or support to anyone who may be lost or in
a sticky situation over freshers.
The operation is from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th Sept inclusive from 6pm-2am
each day.
Volunteers can work any time they wish within the above hours, as few or as
many evenings as they wish, and for whatever hours they wish
-Student volunteers will be paired up with PCSO's to walk around public areas,
specifically Hyde Park Corner, Hyde Park, Woodhouse Lane, Central Headingley,
North Lane and Kirkstall Lane.
Volunteering includes engaging with students, marking property (mobile phones,
Ipods etc) with UV pens, providing crime prevention and personal safety advice
and promoting the Knowledge campaign, which has been very successful in
reducing crime in Leeds.
Volunteers can be taken home at the end of their stint by officers in a van, to
ensure they get home safely.
If you want to volunteer please get in touch with Jo on communitywellbeing@leedsmetsu.co.uk
