Volunteering

CALM Volunteering (Community Action Leeds Met)

student-led, community driven volunteer action projects

CALM was set up by students in 2001 and has grown to be a locally respected, nationally recognised provider of student-led, social action volunteering.

Student-led volunteering is a fun and diverse activity that provides a unique opportunity to develop skills for life and work. Employers recognise that volunteering equips student with essential skills so you can enhance your employability, make a positive difference to the community and widen your social circle all at the same time.

What does CALM do?

We support students to lead and get involved in community action projects that benefit kids & youth, older people and the environment. We run projects that require a regular time commitment every week during term time and we do one-off projects and events throughout the year.

CALM projects give students the ultimate experience in community volunteering; you can gain leadership experience, do something different from your course subject, meet a variety of interesting people and create the experience you want to get.

3 steps to getting involved:

1. Download our simple application form, complete and return to calm@leedsmetsu.co.uk

2. Attend an informal interview to chat about what you want to get from volunteering with us

3. Attend a short CALM induction and welcome session

You will be matched to a project of your choice and supported throughout. Relevant training is available. Volunteering is FREE and reasonable volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.

Volunteering with CALM is easy, opportunities are flexible around university holidays and assessment times. You can give as much or as little time as you can spare. There is something to suit everyone.
