How the union is run
So how is the Union run? Well it's complicated but in a nutshell here goes ...
The students at Leeds Metropolitan University are our members. They elect 6 full time officers each year to run the Students' Union. These 6 officers are the President, Associate President Community Wellbeing, Associate President Development, Associate President Diversity, Associate President Education and the AU President.
The full time officers represent the students at Leeds Metropolitan University to the University, as well as in local and national forums. The full time officers are also trustees of the Students' Union and sit on the Board of Trustees alongside 5 external trustees and 4 student trustees.
The full time officers are assisted by a staff team which is headed up by the Chief Executive.
The full time officers are held accountable by the Student Representative Council who are also responsible for setting our political policy. The Student Representative Council is made up of students who are also chairs of our forums. The forums report to the caucuses which are chaired by the student officers.
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the strategic management of the Students' Union. They have a number of sub committees which deal with finances, staffing and governance.
